Narrative Story Cards consists of 15 sets of pictures that depict 15 stories appropriate for adolescents and adults. Six stories have 3-card sequences with a total of 18 cards, four stories have 4-card sequences with a total of 16 cards, and 5 stories have 5-card sequences with a total of 25 cards. The cards are for use with clients who may have difficulty with aspects of narrative discourse resulting from brain damage or developmental problems. Narrative Story Cards is a flexible set of stimulus materials that can be used for treatment and assessment of narrative discourse abilities in adolescents and adults.
Each set of pictures is accompanied by a written story to be used for story reading and story retelling. Each story also comes with a content unit checklist. These checklists can be used for judging informational aspects of clients' narrative discourse skills. The stories contain elements of surprise, humor, and other emotions known to enhance memory and production of information in individuals with brain damage. With these versatile cards, you'll help your clients with word-retrieval, syntax, planning, organization, and integration of ideas throughout sentences and stages of the story, topic maintenance, and working memory.
