The Catch a Star® Workbooks are highly recommended materials for Seeing Stars® instruction. These workbooks develop oral vocabulary, reading, and spelling for the most commonly used words in English—the Star Words in the Seeing Stars® program.

Each workbook, or Warp, moves students sequentially through 50 Star Words. The students develop symbol imagery, phonological processing, and concept imagery skills as well as vocabulary, reading, and spelling, as in the Seeing Stars® and Visualizing and Verbalizing® programs.

Ivan the Cat—King of the Neighborhood—narrates each workbook to add humor and interest. The lessons are beneficial for young students with language processing challenges, and those learning English as a second language.

  • Each book covers 50 Star Words
  • Five sentences use each word in context, to help students visualize the word's meaning; one sentence is accompanied by a fun illustration
  • Definitions are provided for all words, with multiple entries for multiple meanings
